Read more…I practiced primary care and emergency medicine as a PA for over 30 years. It became progressively disheartening to see the growing emphasis on use of prescription drugs for almost every issue. While these medications are beneficial when used appropriately, many patients have forgotten about their own ability to optimally care for their bodies through healthy diet and lifestyle choices, which can frequently prevent the need for drugs. Enjoying a Whole-Food Plant-Based (WFPB) diet for several years has improved my life in every way and I relish preparing and eating food more than ever before. I want the same for all patients who hope for a better life and desire this knowledge. I now use my NC Medical Board license to empower patients to achieve their own health goals through coaching and, if desired, adjunctive therapy with professional clinical hypnosis. I help individuals struggling with health issues and/or barriers to self-care discover new paths to healing and wholeness through positive, supportive, and nonjudgmental guidance.

I have been a practicing Internal Medicine physician since 1991. My practice has been focused on primary care of adults. Since 1996, I have been practicing with the Palo Alto Medical Foundation initially in Sunnyvale, then Mountain View, California. My plant-based journey began in the mid 1990s when I read “Diet for a new America” by John Robbins, and subsequently read many books by Dr John McDougal. In addition to taking the eCornell course through T. Colin Campbell, I became board-certified in Lifestyle Medicine in 2019. i have attended 2 of the annual Lifestyle medicine conferences, in 2019 and 2022. I have also attended the Plant Strong conference in Ashland, North Carolina in 2023, led by Rip Esselstyn.
Since February 2024, I have been the lead physician in my group’s new concierge medical practice. This membership-based practice is allowing me more time to work with patients who are interested in plant-based eating and healthy lifestyle changes. My philosophy of healthcare is preventive, collaborative, and postive.

Read more…For over 25 years, I have been a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist in Atlanta. Over the years, my personal journey for improved health and disease recovery led to practicing a whole-food plant-based, no oil eating style in 2021. Finding dramatic health benefits, I became increasingly interested in helping people achieve and sustain changes in their lifestyle to improve their health. Following my retirement from clinical psychiatric practice in 2023, I became board certified in Lifestyle Medicine. Partnering with our existing program, Kinetik Focus, we are launching Kinetik Health which focuses not only on education regarding the six pillars of lifestyle medicine, but also provides skills for behavioral change, accountability, coaching and community support to make the necessary changes for improved health.
I have been a practicing noninvasive cardiologist since 2012 specializing in ion and advanced lipid management. In 2019 I changed my diet and my immediate family members diet to a Whole Foods plant-based diet. I began to share all the positive effects a plant-based diet was having for me personally with my patients, and my medical practice naturally evolved into one focused on helping patients implement healthy lifestyle strategies, especiallu moving towards a whole food plant-based diet to treat and reverse their cardiovascular and other metabolic diseases. For the first time in my career, I began to see patients actually get well rather than continue to decline slowly overtime. In 2020 I completed the eCornell Plant, Pete’s nutrition certification, course through the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, and in 2022 I became board-certified in lifestyle medicine through the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. I now incorporate all six pillars of lifestyle medicine into my daily preventive cardiovascular practice teaching my patients how to restore their health and improve their well-being.
