What is a Plantrician?

Plan.tri.cian: a physician or clinician, empowered by the scientific evidence of the benefits of whole food, plant-based nutrition who uses this knowledge as a cornerstone in practice to improve the health of patients or clients.

 

While all providers in this directory are Plantricians, providers with profiles marked with the symbol below, have attended one or more of The Plantrician Project’s medical education events presented in a growing number of global venues.

 

The Plantrician Project’s evidence-based medical education events have become the standard bearer for impartial presentation of the current and progressive science that supports the efficacy of the whole food, plant-based dietary lifestyle to prevent and reverse disease.

What is whole food, plant-based?

Whole food, plant-based is a dietary lifestyle that focuses on:

 

-maximizing the intake of whole, plant-foods including fruit, vegetables, whole, grains, legumes, nuts, & seeds. 

 

-minimizing the intake of highly processed and animal derived foods including refined flours, beef, chicken, pork, fish, dairy and eggs.

 

Why whole food, plant-based?

 

According to the CDC, nearly 60% of the U.S. population and 85% of older adults suffers the debilitating effects of at least one chronic disease. These diseases are the leading factor in the nation’s crippling healthcare costs. With global populations facing similar grim statistics, it is obvious that change is needed.

 

There is a large and growing body of evidence demonstrating the efficacy of a whole food plant-based dietary lifestyle to prevent or reverse nearly 80% of chronic lifestyle related illnesses.

It is a service that greatly expands treatment options for all patients but particularly for those patients in areas where there are few practitioners or for patients that require highly specialized care. Telehealth can also improve access to care for patients who may not have the time to be able to leave or who may be unable to leave their homes in order to seek treatment.

Anyone may use the directory to find a physician or healthcare practitioner, free of charge.
