Dr. Sobel earned her medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She completed her Intern year of Internal Medicine at New York Presbyterian Columbia Hospital in New York City and then finished the remainder of her Internal Medicine Residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. She completed her Fellowship in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism at the University of Pittsburgh and stayed on as faculty within the Division of Endocrinology for 7 years, where she also served as Clinical Chief of Endocrinology at UPMC Mercy Hospital during this time. In 2021, she opened her direct endocrine care practice: Summon Health, in Pittsburgh, PA where she offers highly innovative and personalized metabolic health care. Her academic interests include quality improvement initiatives addressing delivery of and access to latest diabetes evidence based care. Throughout her career she has been awarded several institutional grants for her research interests and she has spoken and continues to speak at national conferences in her field. She is board certified in Internal Medicine; Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism; Lifestyle Medicine; and Obesity Medicine. Her clinical interests include complex diabetes management, diabetes technology, obesity, and PCOS and she focuses on working closely with patients to understand the role of nutrition in improving health and even reversing disease.
At his practice, West Orange Nephrology LLC, Dr. Awosika specializes in Nephrology, Hypertension, and Chronic Kidney Disease with an emphasis on preventive care. For over a decade, he has encouraged a lifestyle approach that empowers patients to get better sooner and stay healthier longer, limiting the use of medications.
Dr. Awosika is passionate about providing guidance and support for his patients in embracing a healthy lifestyle, including transitioning to a plant-based diet. His Nephrology practice focuses on disease prevention and reversal through optimal nutrition, exercise, sleep, mindset and loving relationships. As part of someone’s health we talk about nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress, and support system and these all play critical roles in health.
In addition to the in-office/telemedicine visits, patients and community members are welcome to attend the Walk With A Doc monthly walks at the Ventura Pier (currently held as an education over Zoom due to COVID-19) or other group visits for education, support, or to ask questions.

I have been a Whole Food, Plant-Based eater since 2016. I lost 60# with Bright Line Eating in 2016 and reversed hypertension, obesity, and borderline diabetes. Both plans are the most effective and sustainable for accomplishing improved health and optimal weight. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner working at Harbor Community Health Center in San Pedro, CA. I am available to assist anyone who is interested in learning more about these two ways of eating to improve his or her health. I can prescribe medications for those who need them, with a goal of weaning off medications as your diet improves. Our clinic accepts self-pay or various insurances, including Medicare, MediCal, and several HealthCareLA plans.

She completed her honors undergraduate studies at the University of Connecticut as part of the competitive BS/MD program. I have been a Registered Dietitian for 25 years and now a Certified Plant-Based Nutritionist. I studied with Dr. Mcdougall and Dr. Campbell; both plant-based doctors who are pioneers in their field. I have spent the last 15 years of my life researching and studying health and practicing a lifestyle of plant-based foods, yoga, walking, meditation, living in the present and being grateful. Since 2003, she has been the owner of Healthy Lifestyle Management where she provides private and group nutrition counseling, stress management through mindfulness, and educates clients on the six pillars of Lifestyle Medicine: Plant-Predominant Nutrition, Exercise, Stress Management, Sleep, Social Relationships, and Avoidance of Risky Substances.
