Dr. Dorothy Cohen Serna is a board certified internal medicine physician. She founded North Cypress Internal Medicine & Wellness in 1998 with the mission of providing superior, attentive and thoughtful care with a strong focus on Lifestyle Medicine and Wellness, and converted the practice to the concierge medicine model in 2017. She attained Fellowship with the American College of Physicians is part of the first group of professionals to earn certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. Dr. Serna is also a national board certified health and wellness coach. She has been named to the Texas Super Doctors list every year since 2018 and was recognized as a Distinguished Physician Leader in Concierge Medicine for 2022-2024. Dr. Serna attended medical school at the University of South Florida and completed her Internal Medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Texas Medical Center in 1997.

Dr. Young is an Arizona native who grew up in Cave Creek and now lives in north Scottsdale with her husband, Jon, and four kids. She is a currently practicing, board-certified, Emergency Medicine physician working and is certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. She graduated medical school from Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, AZ in 2006 and completed Emergency Medicine residency at Maricopa Medical Center in 2009. She has been practicing for 15 years.
As an Emergency Medicine physician, Dr. Young sees patients at their most critical points, frequently on the worst day of their lives.  Her job is to stabilize, rule out life-threatening conditions and treat any acute illnesses. Often what brings patients to the emergency department are things that could have been avoided with lifestyle changes. Heart disease, cancer, stroke and diabetes are among the top 10 leading causes of death in the United States. Through lifestyle changes, patients are able to significantly reduce their risk for all of these!
Dr. Young loves working in the emergency department but found herself wishing she had more time to spend with patients. When she sees patients in the ED, she can touch briefly on simple things they can do to take charge of their health, but her interactions are limited by time. She is excited to start Sozo Lifestyle Medicine so that she can change her pace, develop relationships with her patients and help support them as they take charge of their health. Through lifestyle interventions that reverse chronic disease as well as her skillset as an Emergency Medicine physician, she will do her best to help her patients stay healthy and out of the emergency department.
Her hope for Sozo is to create a place of community, health, service, life and joy.

David Dunaief, MD, is an internist specializing in integrative medicine. He focuses on the reversal, prevention, and treatment of chronic diseases through a nutrient-dense approach, fitness, and stress management.
He is an active researcher on the impacts of diet on health, with several published studies in peer-reviewed medical journals, and he presents regularly at corporations, academic centers, wellness expos, and scientific meetings on topics pertaining to integrative/lifestyle medicine. He serves as a medical adviser to Plant Powered Metro New York, which empowers people to overcome chronic disease through whole food, plant-based nutrition.

Dr. Katipally is board certified in American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and American Board of Lifestyle Medicine (ABLM). After practicing the traditional medicine for over 15 years and serving as the medical director for various busy service-lines in the academic and university health/corporate systems – he pivoted his personal journey, career path and practice toward plant-based nutrition and lifestyle medicine. After his ABLM certification followed by the certification in Plant-based Nutrition program by Dr. T. Colin Campbell’s Center for Nutrition Studies at Cornell Univ. (eCornell), he founded the New ME Health Center for Lifestyle Medicine – his dream comprehensive Lifestyle Medicine Center to help his patients arrest and potentially reverse their diabetes and other lifestyle related diseases through Intensive Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes (iTLC).

Timaree is a plant-based registered dietitian nutritionist, certified exercise physiologist with a master’s degree in public health and over 20 years of experience as a college nutrition professor. While she has worked with thousands of people of all ages, from many different cultures, to achieve and surpass their health-related goals, (improving their blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar levels, digestion, and energy, losing weight and reducing/eliminating the need for medications), she also “walks the talk” in her own daily actions that support holistic wellness. You can find her eating nourishing plant-based whole food (that loves her back), moving her body every day in ways that keep her strong and feeling energized, staying hydrated and prioritizing physical and mental self-care.    Timaree pours her heart into working with a select number of private coaching clients and leading the fun and engaging Foodie Bar Way of Life community. She is PBNSG’s dietitian and a chef contributor, conducts local and virtual events, corporate wellness work, serves on the Plant-Based Prevention of Disease Executive Board, and has contributed to several cookbooks and her OWN cookbook (The Foodie Bar Way). Timaree’s had the honor of speaking across the nation, writing for newspapers and online media outlets and being featured in many TV segments and web appearances (California Bountiful TV, Studio40, Chef AJ Show, Nutmeg Notebook, etc.) She also has experience working as a dietitian in a variety of practice settings ranging from the acute care hospital and ambulatory clinics, to community nutrition and performing medical nutrition therapy for renal patients.    “I get very passionate about combining fun and practicality, offering strategies and inspiration for finding pleasure in preparing and enjoying nourishing meals and taking very good care of ourselves!”

SUZANNAH BOZZONE, MD For years, I was prescribing medicine I wouldn’t take myself and frustrated by the seemingly incurable state of our most prevalent, deadly and costly chronic diseases. Finally, I found Lifestyle Medicine, which is not only strongly evidence-based, but resonates with my desire to treat myself, my family and my patients more in accordance with nature’s guidance and, most importantly, addressing diseases from their root causes, rather than covering up symptoms. Best of all, this method empowers patients, rather than dictating dependence on our pharmaceutically-driven medical system. Dr. Bozzone moved to the Chattanooga area from Sonoma, CA, where she worked for six years in private practice and community health. She previously served as the Medical Director of Wellness at Sonoma Valley Hospital. Dr. Bozzone is happily married with three young children and loves to swim, practice yoga and sing in any spare moment she can find.

I am passionate about helping women and their families gain control of their health. I meet you where you are and together we build personalized, integrative plans that focus on building foundations of optimal health. My lifelong interest in promoting and encouraging healthy lifestyles began as a young gymnast years ago. I competed at the elite level, was a member of the U.S. National Team, and earned a full scholarship to the Stanford University Women’s Gymnastics Team. After four years as a Division I NCAA student-athlete, I began training and racing triathlons while earning my master’s degree. After graduating I helped build sports programs for kids in Japan, organized triathlons and led bike tours in the Southwest, and managed the sports program for Special Olympics Nevada. I then spent three years inspiring audience members performing as a professional acrobat in Cirque du Soleil’s KA at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, while also continuing to participate in full-distance triathlons. I was then introduced to naturopathic medicine during a 4,500-mile, self-supported bicycle trip with my husband where we witnessed the unequivocal interconnectedness of the environment and health. I was motivated to learn more and earned my naturopathic doctorate degree from Bastyr University while growing our family. I now have my own, small private practice in Maple Valley, WA where I encourage, coach, and help patients live their best life in person and via telemedicine. As a mom of three, I understand the juggle of home, work, school, play, self-care, and all the roles that come with being a mother. My passion is helping you navigate your own juggle so that you can optimize both your own and your family’s health. I cannot wait to hear your story!

Dr Teresa Diaz has a Medical Degree from Rutgers University, and is an accomplished Obstetrics & Gynecology (OBGYN) surgeon. As a psychology major at San Francisco State University, Dr Teresa understands the emotional and psychological components of lifestyle change and weight loss.    She’s certified in Age Management Medicine, a member of The Institute for Functional Medicine and studied holistic nutrition at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I specialize in hormone balancing, menopause, gut health and plant based nutrition.    While Dr Teresa has impressive credentials within the fields of medicine, psychology and nutrition, it’s her ability to have overcome unimaginable trauma that makes her truly unique and special.   Growing up in the ghettos of New York, Dr Teresa has personally dealt with the pain of childhood physical & sexual abuse, racism, poverty and sexism. She’s lost (and kept off) over 120 lbs and knows in her heart, with the right guidance and support, every challenge can be overcome!

I count myself amongst the lucky ones. In contrast, to most medical school educations, I had the privilege of spending hundreds of hours in nutrition during my doctorate at Sonoran University (previously Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine) and it was there that I first became exposed to the likes of Ornish, Esselstyn, Campbell, Goldhamer and others, to name a few. The underlying tenants that I practice, embrace a philosophy of health and wellness rooted in prevention. To this end, nutrition is central to all health and a Whole Food Plant Based orientation is quite simply, the best way to accomplish this task.    I remember an instance several years ago when my son, Silas, came home from school, recounting a story of one of his 6-year old classmates, who brought not one, but two cans of Mountain Dew in his packed lunch. As I sighed and braced myself for the inevitable, why-can’t-I-have-soda-in-my-lunch question, I pondered how best to answer his concerns. But, he never asked that question. Instead he stated with some level of resignation in his voice, “Well, mom, I guess that’s what we should expect from some kids, after all, his mom isn’t a Naturopathic doctor.”   In my mind, that moment crystallizes a couple of principles that seem to characterize the WFPB lifestyle and my own core values. (1) Practice what you preach and be the change you wish to see in the world. (2) Change is often caught rather than taught, often when we least expect it, even though it can seem difficult or even insurmountable.
