I am a family medicine and lifestyle medicine specialist who moved to Guam after losing my home and medical practice in the 2018 Camp Fire disaster in Paradise, California. After two years serving the people of Micronesia, I accepted a position as medical director of the Rocky Mountain Lifestyle Center in Denver, Colorado. I have now transitioned into a new position with AdventHealth as a primary care physician at Advent Health Family Medicine – Castle Pines in Castle Pines, Colorado. I am board-certified in family medicine and lifestyle medicine. I’m a founding member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. I enjoy helping individuals regain health through plant-based nutrition, exercise, and other lifestyle changes.
I obtained my medical degree at Loma Linda School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California. Following graduation from Loma Linda University, I completed residency training in family medicine at Hinsdale Hospital near Chicago. During residency, I gave health lectures in Poland, Russia, and Serbia.
I became interested in lifestyle medicine while in residency. I enjoyed seeing patients experience dramatic health improvements at Lifestyle Center of America during six years of medical practice at this residential Intensive Therapeutic Lifestyle Change (ITLC) program in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Before joining AdventHealth, I served as medical director at Rocky Mountain Lifestyle Center in Denver, Colorado.
To share with a wider audience principles leading to exciting health improvements, I co-hosted Total Health, a weekly radio talk show aired over 91.9 FM, JoyFM Radio Guam, and continued this passion in Denver on KPLS AM 1500. Also, I have authored the book, “Dr Arnott’s 24 Realistic Ways to Improve Your Health”, now also available in Spanish.
I met my wife, Sylvia, while in residency training at Hinsdale Hospital. We have three children. We enjoy spending time together in nature, formerly in the coral reefs of Guam, and now in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. I also enjoy scuba diving, backpacking, off-roading, bird watching, Pickleball, and medical mission trips with my family.

More than anything else, he considers himself a “nutritional angiologist.” In other words, via the power of nutrition and lifestyle medicine, he helps people obtain and maintain the highest level of arterial health and subsequently the lowest level of heart attack and stroke risk, possible for their individual circumstances.
He is also highly trained in advanced cardiovascular disease risk assessment and uses the latest tools and understanding available to help people truly understand their current level of vascular health so that they can know best what they need to do, and also, most importantly, how their body is responding to the treatments they are doing.

Read more…Dr. Young is an Arizona native who grew up in Cave Creek and now lives in north Scottsdale with her husband, Jon, and four kids. She is a currently practicing, board-certified, Emergency Medicine physician working and is certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. She graduated medical school from Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, AZ in 2006 and completed Emergency Medicine residency at Maricopa Medical Center in 2009. She has been practicing for 15 years.
As an Emergency Medicine physician, Dr. Young sees patients at their most critical points, frequently on the worst day of their lives. Her job is to stabilize, rule out life-threatening conditions and treat any acute illnesses. Often what brings patients to the emergency department are things that could have been avoided with lifestyle changes. Heart disease, cancer, stroke and diabetes are among the top 10 leading causes of death in the United States. Through lifestyle changes, patients are able to significantly reduce their risk for all of these!
Dr. Young loves working in the emergency department but found herself wishing she had more time to spend with patients. When she sees patients in the ED, she can touch briefly on simple things they can do to take charge of their health, but her interactions are limited by time. She is excited to start Sozo Lifestyle Medicine so that she can change her pace, develop relationships with her patients and help support them as they take charge of their health. Through lifestyle interventions that reverse chronic disease as well as her skillset as an Emergency Medicine physician, she will do her best to help her patients stay healthy and out of the emergency department.
Her hope for Sozo is to create a place of community, health, service, life and joy.
