Angelia Dickinson is an Associate Licensed Counselor with the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling and is board certified in Lifestyle Medicine through the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. She is a Licensed Food for Life Instructor with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, holds the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate, and is a dietetic student at the University of Alabama studying to become a Registered Dietitian. Angelia is also Blue Zones Certified and the 2025 inaugural John Bernard Award recipient for community impact through plant-based nutrition and lifestyle medicine. She works as a licensed therapist in private practice, where she brings together her mental health training and lifestyle medicine expertise to provide integrative, patient-centered care.
In her clinical work, Angelia uses a whole-person, holistic approach that blends evidence-based psychotherapy with evidence-based lifestyle medicine. She integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), play therapy, and EMDR-informed practices to help clients understand why they do what they do, explore patterns of behavior, and build practical skills for change. Angelia focuses on helping clients manage and cope with mental health conditions while also addressing sleep, stress, movement, nutrition, and other lifestyle factors as the foundation of care. By combining whole-food, plant-based nutrition and lifestyle medicine with trauma-informed, skill-based therapy, she supports clients in creating sustainable behavioral change, improving emotional and physical well-being, and moving toward a more hopeful, values-aligned life.
