I am a general cardiologist with almost 20 years of clinical experience. I became board certified in Lifestyle Medicine in 2020 and work at Oregon Cardiology at PeaceHealth in Eugene, Oregon, in a preventive cardiology clinic. My goal is to incorporate evidence-based lifestyle practices to help prevent and reverse disease, particularly in those with cardiovascular risk factors. Patients can expect to be heavily involved and collaborating in their own path toward wellness.
Cardiovascular risk assessment, identification of risk factors, screening tests as indicated, and extensive lifestyle education and counseling.

After working for many years to diagnose and treat heart disease, I now focus on prevention. I practice Integrative Cardiology in person at my Monument, Colorado clinic and through telehealth in several states. I employ the latest advanced lab testing and diagnostic imaging to formulate an assessment of the client’s cardiac risk. Then, I use those findings to create a personalized plan using the Pillars of Lifestyle Medicine, which includes a whole-food, plant-based diet, to help people achieve holistic health. I am passionate about helping people prevent and reverse heart disease so they can enjoy a long, fulfilling life in good health.

Read more…I have been a practicing noninvasive cardiologist since 2012 specializing in ion and advanced lipid management. In 2019 I changed my diet and my immediate family members diet to a Whole Foods plant-based diet. I began to share all the positive effects a plant-based diet was having for me personally with my patients, and my medical practice naturally evolved into one focused on helping patients implement healthy lifestyle strategies, especiallu moving towards a whole food plant-based diet to treat and reverse their cardiovascular and other metabolic diseases. For the first time in my career, I began to see patients actually get well rather than continue to decline slowly overtime. In 2020 I completed the eCornell Plant, Pete’s nutrition certification, course through the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, and in 2022 I became board-certified in lifestyle medicine through the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. I now incorporate all six pillars of lifestyle medicine into my daily preventive cardiovascular practice teaching my patients how to restore their health and improve their well-being.

I am an interventional cardiologist with an interest in complex and structural interventional cardiology, adult congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension. However, my long time passion is in the prevention, treatment and reversal of heart disease through diet and lifestyle interventions. I have been a strong advocate for a Whole-Food, Plant-Based diet for my patients (and myself) for several years. I completed the eCornell certificate program in Plant-Based Nutrition at the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies in April 2018 and hope to bring greater awareness of these powerful benefits to patients and practitioners in the community.
