Read more…Do you worry about chronic inflammation, heart disease or cancer. Maybe you can relate to how I felt before I regained control over my heath. I was sick and tired of feeling lousy and not having enough energy to get through my day. I was shocked when my doctor told me I was pre-diabetic, had high cholesterol, fatty liver disease and on the cusp of being diagnosed as obese. Does any of this sound familiar and keep you up at night or keep you from doing the things you love, like playing with your kids or grandkids, or walking your dog? Do any of these health issues keep you from participating in events with family and friends? Would you love to drop excess weight more easily and keep it off, get off prescription medications for high cholesterol or blood pressure, wake up feeling refreshed and full of energy, no longer have to wear a glucose monitor, take insulin shots and avoid eating carbohydrates? What results would you love to have so you can do what you want, when you want?
I’ve had amazing results while on my wellness journey by leaning into plant-based eating to resolve multiple, chronic lifestyle diseases without medications, excessive exercise, dieting or feeling deprived. Along the way, I earned my Plant-Based Nutrition certification from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and eCornell and I’m a graduate of the Food Revolution Network’s Plant-based Coaching Certification program. I graduated from the Rouxbe (Forks Over Knives) Plant-based cooking course and I’m currently enrolled in the McDougall Starch Based certification program. I completed Claire Zammit’s Institute for Women-Centered Coaching, Foundations of Women-Centered Coaching Program and Dr. Will Bulsiewicz’s Plant Fed Gut program. I’m currently enrolled in the Married to Health, Good Gut SIBO/IBS program with Dalia Marin, RDN, LD, CGN and James Marin, RD, EN.
With my experience, education in plant-based nutrition and coaching training, I can help you reach your health and wellness goals faster and easier than trying to do it alone. By embracing food as medicine, you can kick start and sustain the health and wellness results you would love and deserve! Let’s do this!

I practiced primary care and emergency medicine as a PA for over 30 years. It became progressively disheartening to see the growing emphasis on use of prescription drugs for almost every issue. While these medications are beneficial when used appropriately, many patients have forgotten about their own ability to optimally care for their bodies through healthy diet and lifestyle choices, which can frequently prevent the need for drugs. Enjoying a Whole-Food Plant-Based (WFPB) diet for several years has improved my life in every way and I relish preparing and eating food more than ever before. I want the same for all patients who hope for a better life and desire this knowledge. I now use my NC Medical Board license to empower patients to achieve their own health goals through coaching and, if desired, adjunctive therapy with professional clinical hypnosis. I help individuals struggling with health issues and/or barriers to self-care discover new paths to healing and wholeness through positive, supportive, and nonjudgmental guidance.

Read more…My name is Dr. Joseph Thomas and I am a trained family medicine and lifestyle medicine physician. I grew up health conscious as a vegetarian but after starting residency I learned of the healing power a plant-based diet possessed. I was able to lead a reversing diabetes course during residency and saw several people go from limited mobility to walking around the room. I was able to see peoples weight go down, happiness increase and true healing occur. This set me on a path to find other ways to heal people. After residency I started working in the hospital where I tried to help those in need obtain better help; realizing that the majority of chronic diseases started with the diet. I have since left the hospital and started up my own company (Simpliwell LLC) with my wife (nutrition counsellor in training) so that we could work with people earlier in the disease process to keep them out of the hospital and in a better state of health. It has been a pleasure joining up with the Plantrician Project to help the world achieve better health.
